Primarily I carve wooden masks and motifs of native plants and animals. I only use domestic woods, most of which I have collected myself. My intent with these works is to express a certain gesture or characteristic that I have experienced or envisioned. These works are a celebration of nature's resilience to human stresses and are my interpetation of the essence of wildness. The main source for my inspiration is a secluded cabin off the grid, with a mile and a half long access easement in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. This is where I immerse myself.
